Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again stirred the political landscape after issuing a bold statement accusing President William Ruto of orchestrating a systematic campaign to discredit him.
Speaking during an event attended by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and DAP-K boss Eugene Wamalwa, Gachagua claimed that the president has deployed his allies and online teams to politically neutralize him ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to Gachagua, President Ruto is allegedly frustrated by the growing support he continues to enjoy within the Mount Kenya region, which he believes stands in the way of Ruto’s plan to “split the mountain” for political advantage.
He stated that the online attacks branding him as tribal are part of a well-funded propaganda operation intended to erode his influence and weaken his grip on the region.

Gachagua maintained that he is not a tribal leader, insisting that his political stand has always been based on advocating for fairness, regional unity, and accountability in government.
He dismissed claims that ethnic divisions are the cause of Kenya’s current challenges, instead pointing a finger at what he termed “massive looting of public resources and the reckless selling of national assets.”
He further warned residents of the Mount Kenya region to be vigilant, urging them not to fall for the alleged smear campaigns targeting him.
Gachagua argued that the attacks are meant to distract Kenyans from pressing issues, including economic hardships and unfulfilled campaign promises made during the 2022 elections.
His remarks come at a time when political realignments are intensifying, with leaders positioning themselves ahead of the next polls.
As Gachagua continues to accuse the government of sidelining him, his latest revelations are expected to spark renewed debate within Kenya Kwanza and the larger political arena.
