Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again stirred the political storm after alleging that President William Ruto is secretly working on a strategy to weaken the emerging united opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a church service where he was accompanied by Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, Justin Muturi, Martha Karua and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Gachagua claimed that the head of state is actively targeting key opposition leaders in an attempt to divide them.
The team, which has been touring several regions urging Kenyans not to be swayed by what they describe as “empty promises” from the Kenya Kwanza administration, insisted that Ruto’s political maneuvers are aimed at ensuring the opposition remains fragmented before the next polls.
According to Gachagua, the President has allegedly been reaching out to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka with the intention of luring him into government.

However, Gachagua assured supporters that Kalonzo has not entertained any such discussions and has instead reaffirmed his commitment to the united opposition formation. He emphasized that there is no cause for alarm, insisting that the alliance remains intact and determined to challenge Ruto’s leadership in 2027.
“Kalonzo has assured us that he is not going anywhere. The President can try all the tricks he wants, but the unity we have built cannot be broken,” Gachagua told the crowd. “We are fully committed to presenting a formidable team that will send Ruto home come 2027.”
The opposition coalition has intensified its grassroots mobilization, aiming to consolidate support across the country as the political temperature continues to rise. With growing accusations and counter-accusations, the race to 2027 is shaping up to be one of Kenya’s most competitive elections yet.
