Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has intensified his political activities in Mbeere North as the constituency heads toward a highly contested by-election, a race he has openly pegged on his broader mission to consolidate influence within the Mount Kenya political bloc.
Gachagua, who has camped in the constituency for days while rallying support for the United Opposition candidate Hon. Karish, has vowed not to leave the region until his preferred candidate is declared winner.
He has repeatedly termed the by-election a defining political moment, insisting it will determine the future leadership direction of the vote-rich region.
According to updates shared on his official social media platforms, Gachagua has now launched a fresh digital-based strategy that has ignited conversation across the country.

In a poster posted online, the former second-in-command invited youth from Mbeere North to join him on TikTok for live engagements, saying the platform offers unfiltered interaction with the electorate, especially first-time voters.
A video seen by our newsroom captures Gachagua alleging that certain individuals are buying identification cards from elderly residents with the intention of suppressing voter turnout for Hon. Karish.
He claimed that the scheme is meant to tilt the election outcome by preventing a demographic perceived to favour the opposition candidate from participating in the by-election.
Gachagua further argued that the alleged activities signal growing panic within the local political establishment, asserting that “Karish will win the election, and the governor knows it—that is why they are picnicking around trying to disrupt the process.”
As political temperatures continue to rise, stakeholders have called for calm and urged relevant authorities to investigate the allegations.
The Mbeere North by-election is expected to attract national attention as the rivalry for Mount Kenya’s political control intensifies.
