Climax Bus Company has finally broken its silence over the fate of passengers who were reportedly on board the bus involved in the tragic accident that claimed the life of the late Lugari Member of Parliament, Honorable Cyrus Jirongo. The clarification comes amid growing public pressure and conflicting accounts surrounding the events of the fateful day.
Since the sudden passing of the outspoken legislator, several unanswered questions have emerged, particularly regarding the number of people on the bus and their whereabouts after the crash.
According to the bus driver’s initial statement to investigators, the vehicle was carrying about 65 passengers while traveling from Nairobi to Busia when the accident occurred.
However, confusion deepened after a watchman who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident gave a differing account, claiming that he did not see injured passengers at the scene, raising suspicions among members of the public.

In a statement released on Thursday, Climax Bus management sought to clear the air, explaining that none of the passengers “disappeared” as had been widely speculated.
The company stated that immediately after the accident, passengers who were on board were rescued and assisted by emergency responders and good Samaritans. They were later transferred to another Climax bus, which continued with the journey to Busia.
“The safety and welfare of our passengers is our priority. All those who were on board were accounted for and assisted accordingly,” the management said.
The company further revealed that full details, including a passenger manifest and movement records, were shared with police officers handling the case.
Climax Bus management emphasized that it is fully cooperating with authorities as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Jirongo’s death continue.
Police have maintained that inquiries are ongoing and urged the public to remain patient and avoid speculation until official findings are released.
As the nation continues to mourn the late legislator, many Kenyans are keenly awaiting clear answers to ensure accountability and justice prevail.
