Senator Cleophas Wakhungu Malalah, the Deputy Party Leader of the DCP, has sparked lively reactions across the country after taking a swipe at COTU Secretary-General Francis Atwoli following the party’s unexpected victory in the Kisa East Ward by-election.
The win, secured by Hon. Aluda, has been hailed as a major breakthrough for the DCP, which continues to position itself as a fast-rising political force.
Speaking shortly after the results were announced, Malalah did not mince his words as he celebrated the win, claiming that the outcome should serve as a wake-up call for Atwoli and other critics who have dismissed DCP as a “village party.”
According to Malalah, the fact that a candidate from Atwoli’s own home area was elected under the DCP ticket is evidence that the party’s influence is expanding far beyond its perceived strongholds.

Malalah noted that the victory in Kisa East, combined with previous wins in Kariobangi North Ward and Nork Town, is a clear indication that DCP is steadily gaining national traction.
“Those who have been claiming that DCP only exists in Central Kenya must now learn something,” he said. “We are no longer a small or regional party. We are winning seats in diverse regions, including the backyard of those who doubted us.”
The senator further emphasized that Atwoli should now respect the DCP, arguing that political dynamics in Western Kenya are shifting. He described the Kisa East win as a symbolic moment, demonstrating that residents are increasingly embracing the party’s ideology and leadership.
