Kisumu County Governor Anyang Nyong’o has finally broken his silence following his conspicuous absence from the highly publicized Linda Ground initiative rally held in Kisumu County, an event led by senior Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) figures.
His absence from the rally—attended by Siaya Governor Oburu Odinga and Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga—sparked widespread speculation about his loyalty to the party and fueled claims of deepening divisions within ODM.
The rally, held at Linda Ground, had been seen as a show of unity amid growing concerns over internal wrangles following recent political realignments.
Nyong’o’s no-show led some party supporters and analysts to suggest that the veteran politician was distancing himself from the party’s current direction.
However, speaking on Thursday, Governor Nyong’o dismissed such claims and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to Orange Democratic Movement.

In a firm but conciliatory tone, the Kisumu governor reminded party members of ODM’s founding ideals and his own long-standing role in shaping them.
“As a founding member of ODM and the party’s pioneer Secretary General; policies and principles of custodian, I urge for unity and mutual respect within the party ranks,” Nyong’o said.
He emphasized that ODM’s leadership and grassroots supporters must remain steadfast in the core values of democracy, inclusivity, and social justice.
Nyong’o’s statement is expected to calm tensions within the party, especially in Nyanza, where ODM enjoys strong support.
Political observers say his remarks signal a call for dialogue and cohesion at a time when the party faces mounting pressure to present a united front ahead of future political contests.
