Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is currently appearing before the senate of Kenya in impeachment Motion. He pleaded not guilty to all charges against him that were presented by the National Assembly of Kenya.
Well, there was a heated argument after Siaya governor James Orengo appeared for national assembly team at the Senate. Advocates from Gachagua side objected the move and termed his representation against the constitution.
Senior Counsel Ahmednasir has joined Kenyans on an issues statement on Orengo appearing for the National Assembly.
According to him, it is unconstitutional for an elected member in Kenya to represent someone. He has therefore called on Orengo not to be part of the team to represent the National assembly of Kenya.

“It’s IMPROPER and UNCONSTITUTIONAL for lawyers who are elected as MPs, Senators, MCAs or Governors to appear in court or any other organ like Senate or National Assembly and present parties…the constitution PROHIBITS such RAPACITY.” Wrote Ahmednasir.
This is good news for the team representing Gachagua since they had asked the Senate speaker to throw out Orengo before proceeding with the impeachment process. Gachagua will have to defend himself and if he fails to impress the Senate, he will bid goodbye to his office as the Deputy President of the republic of Kenya.
