The 2027 General Election is already generating intense political debate, but nominated MP Jackson Kosgei has sought to calm growing concerns over the possibility of election-related violence.

“Do not be afraid. Kenya will not experience post-election violence,” Kosgei said, according to the remarks highlighted by NTV.
Kosgei is a nominated UDA member of the National Assembly, representing persons with disabilities and special-interest groups. Parliament’s current records list him as a nominated MP under UDA.
His remarks come as political leaders increasingly focus on the need for peaceful campaigns and responsible leadership ahead of the next General Election.
In August, Kosgei had similarly urged politicians to embrace mature politics, national unity and reconciliation while warning against divisions that could threaten the country’s peace.
The legislator’s latest statement therefore places emphasis on confidence rather than fear as Kenya approaches another politically significant period.
Kenya has previously experienced serious election-related unrest, making questions about political stability particularly sensitive whenever national elections draw closer.
Kosgei’s comments also come from a legislator who has personally experienced political unrest. In 2024, he was among MPs caught inside Parliament during the protests surrounding the Finance Bill, later recounting how protesters helped him leave the parliamentary precincts safely.
As political competition intensifies, his message is likely to renew discussion about how leaders and citizens can help ensure that the 2027 election period remains peaceful.
