Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen confirmed the death while speaking about the security situation in northern Kenya. He mourned the officer and vowed that the government would take firm action against armed bandits operating in the region.
The officer had reportedly been part of the Kenyan police contingent deployed to Haiti to support international efforts to confront gang violence.
After completing the mission and returning home safely, the officer tragically lost his life while serving in Isiolo.
Murkomen’s remarks have intensified attention on the security challenges facing communities and police officers in northern Kenya. He also addressed the government’s response to banditry in Samburu East, promising tougher measures against those involved in attacks and insecurity.
The death is particularly painful because the officer had faced dangerous conditions overseas and managed to return home safely, only to die while carrying out his duties in Kenya.
His killing has once again highlighted the risks faced by members of the National Police Service, many of whom operate in difficult and dangerous environments while protecting civilians.
