Vihiga County Senator Godfrey Osotsi was on Tuesday attacked by unknown individuals in Kisumu in an incident that has sparked outrage among leaders and the public.
According to a video that has since gone viral, the visibly distressed senator is seen pleading with his attackers to spare him.
Despite his cries, the assailants continued with the assault as people around the scene fled, leaving him vulnerable.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and police have yet to identify or apprehend the suspects.

Leaders across the political divide have strongly condemned the incident, calling for swift action to bring those responsible to justice. Among those who spoke out is Catherine Omanyo, who issued a firm statement denouncing the violence.
“I strongly condemn the assault on Vihiga Senator Hon. Godfrey Osotsi today in Kisumu. The ODM Party condemns all forms of violence and thuggery.
Those who planned the attack and those who carried it out must be arrested and prosecuted without delay. We wish Sen. Osotsi a speedy recovery,” she said.
The incident has renewed concerns over rising political intolerance and insecurity, with leaders urging calm and respect for democratic values. Authorities are expected to launch investigations into the shocking attack.
