Immediately after he was sworn into office. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagwa declared that he set traps at the Statehouse to stop Orange democratic Party leader, Honerable Raila Odinga from entering it for possible handshake discussion.

He went ahead to say that, he had so many people at the most protected office who are employed to inform him if Odinga tries to approach the president.

Well, few days ago. It seems like those traps failed to stop Odinga who was able to get his key allies appointed to prestigious positions in Kenya Kwanza administration.

  1. Wycliffe Oparanya who is a close ally of Odinga and ODM Party deputy was appointed to the cabinet by Ruto in a move that left the country shocked.
  2. Former Mombasa governor Ali Hasan Joho was appointed to Mining and blue economy docket
  3. Minority leader Honerable Opiyo Wandayi was appointed to Energy Ministry.
  4. ODM party National chair John Mbadi was appointed to Finance Ministry which was previously held by Professor Ndugu from Mount Kenya region.

The appointment of key Odinga allies caused jitters from Rigathi Gachagwa camp prompting him to issue a statement.

He said that, his aim was to make sure that Mount Kenya region retained it’s national share in the cabinet. Something he claimed was achieved.

He went ahead to say that. He only allowed Odinga to enter the State House after he agreed to man a shilling mode of resource sharing.
