Ford Kenya party has officially broken its silence following remarks by Honorable Tim Wanyonyi, the brother of National Assembly Speaker Moses Masika Wetangula, in which he publicly disowned the party and ruled out using it in the 2027 general election.
In a video that has since circulated widely online, Wanyonyi stated that while he has not yet settled on the political party he will use in the next elections, he is certain it will not be Ford Kenya.
He further clarified that he has no intention of seeking the Bungoma County governorship on a Ford Kenya ticket, a declaration that sparked intense political debate, especially given his family ties to the party leader.
Wanyonyi’s comments were seen as a major political setback for Ford Kenya, where he had long been viewed as a potential unifying figure capable of strengthening the party’s grip on Bungoma County politics. His remarks appeared to signal widening cracks within the broader Wetangula political camp.

In response, Ford Kenya, through party official Martin Pepela, issued a firm rebuttal. Speaking in a separate video shared online, Pepela said the party had severed all political association with Tim Wanyonyi following what he described as a betrayal of the party’s ideals and leadership.
Pepela noted that Ford Kenya had previously regarded Wanyonyi as a valuable ally and a possible flag bearer for the Bungoma governorship.
However, he said that position had now changed, adding that the party would begin identifying and nurturing a new candidate to fly its flag in the 2027 gubernatorial race.
He further warned that Wanyonyi would now be treated like any other political opponent of Ford Kenya, accusing him of openly aligning himself against the party.
The developments underscore the growing political realignments in Western Kenya as parties and leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.
