The Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula is facing growing political turbulence after a new video surfaced implicating him in alleged violence during a recent political tour in Bungoma County.
The development comes barely days after his Ford Kenya party suffered a setback in the Chwele–Kabuchai Ward by-election, intensifying scrutiny on Wetang’ula’s political operations in the region.
The viral video, which has circulated widely on social media, features several individuals claiming they were hired to disrupt a rally attended by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and Roots Party leader Prof. George Wajackoyah.
In the footage, the youths allege they were promised payment to pelt stones at the leaders’ convoy during their visit to the county a few weeks ago.

According to the video, the group claims the chaos was orchestrated to intimidate Natembeya and derail his growing influence in the Western Kenya political landscape.

The revelations have triggered widespread reactions, with many Kenyans demanding swift investigations.
Social media users and local leaders are calling on the police to arrest those who admitted to participating in the violence and also probe the individuals they accuse of orchestrating the chaos.
Civil society groups have emphasized that political violence remains a serious threat to Kenya’s democratic space, urging authorities to ensure accountability.
Wetang’ula has not issued an official response to the claims as pressure mounts. The video has reignited debate on political tolerance and the use of youths in orchestrated confrontations during election seasons, a matter that continues to draw public concern across the country.
