Kenyans have been left in shock after a bizarre incident occurred at the Opoda farm, the home of the late Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Amollo Odinga, in Bondo, Siaya County.
Since the burial of the veteran politician on October 19, hundreds of mourners, leaders, and supporters have continued to visit Raila’s resting place to pay their last respects. However, a strange act by one visitor has sparked widespread discussion online.
According to a viral video circulating on social media, a man identified as Ajwang’ Aminda, reportedly an aide to Kisumu Senator Tom Ojienda, was filmed at Raila’s gravesite late at night holding a burning candle and performing what appeared to be a ritual.

In the footage, Aminda is heard addressing the late leader by his traditional name, “Amolo son of Nyakoga,” claiming to be communicating with his spirit.
The man further alleged that the spirit of Raila Odinga had “spoken” to him and revealed that Senator Tom Ojienda would become the next Governor of Kisumu County in the 2027 General Election.
His claims have divided opinion among Kenyans, with some dismissing the act as political theatrics while others condemned it as disrespectful.
Online reactions have been swift and emotional. “Let Baba rest in peace. This is disturbing,” wrote one Facebook user, while another added, “Politics should not cross into the sacred.”
Local leaders and mourners visiting the Opoda compound have called for tighter access control around the grave, describing it as a place of reflection, not ritual.
The incident adds a strange twist to the ongoing mourning period, illustrating just how deeply Raila’s legacy continues to influence politics and belief in Luo Nyanza.
