Mama Ida Odinga was on Thursday overcome with emotion as she viewed the body of the late Beryl Odinga, the sister to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
In a solemn video that has since circulated widely online, Ida is seen being gently guided to the casket, her grief evident as she paid her final respects to a woman who was not only family, but also a pillar within the larger Odinga household.
The body of Beryl Odinga is currently lying at the Kang’o Kajaramogi Museum in Bondo, Siaya County, where close family members, friends, and political leaders have been streaming in to condole with the Odinga family.
The late Beryl is expected to be laid to rest at the family gravesite, a tradition maintained over generations in honour of the Odinga legacy.
