Kikuyu Constituency Member of Parliament Honorable Kimani Ichung’wah has sparked widespread reactions after remarks he made about President William Ruto during a church service held in Gatundu North, Kiambu County.
A video of the moment has since circulated online, igniting debate among Kenyans across the political divide.
Addressing congregants in the presence of President Ruto, Ichung’wah confidently spoke about the 2027 General Election, assuring the Head of State of massive support from Kiambu County.
The vocal MP, who also serves as the National Assembly Majority Leader, stated that President Ruto would once again secure overwhelming votes in the region, just as he did in the 2022 elections.
Ichung’wah praised President Ruto’s leadership and defended the government’s development agenda, noting that ongoing projects and policies would earn the President renewed trust from the electorate.

He emphasized that the Mount Kenya region, and Kiambu County in particular, had no reason to abandon Ruto, arguing that the President had remained committed to improving the livelihoods of ordinary Kenyans.
In his speech, the Kikuyu MP also took a swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of prioritizing personal political interests over the welfare of the community.
Ichung’wah urged residents not to be misled by leaders he claimed were driven by self-serving agendas, calling on them to remain united and focused on development.
“Our people should not be divided by politics of personal gain,” Ichung’wah said, adding that leadership should be about service and tangible results.
The remarks have drawn mixed reactions online, with Ruto’s supporters hailing Ichung’wah for his loyalty and boldness, while critics accused him of engaging in early campaigns and deepening political divisions.
Political analysts note that the comments signal rising political temperatures as leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.
