Mosop Member of Parliament Abraham Kirwa on Friday made an emotional return to the country after spending more than two years abroad seeking specialised treatment following a stroke.
Kirwa, who arrived at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) shortly after midday, was received by jubilant constituents, family members and a section of leaders who celebrated his long-awaited homecoming.
The legislator has been away since late 2023, when he was flown to the United States for urgent medical attention after suffering a sudden stroke. According to close aides, Kirwa’s condition had required extended therapy and specialised care, forcing him to remain abroad longer than initially anticipated.

At JKIA, the visibly grateful MP expressed heartfelt appreciation to his supporters and colleagues who stood with him through his recovery journey.
“I thank God for giving me another chance at life. I also thank the people of Mosop for their patience, prayers and unwavering support,” he said, appearing emotional as he addressed the gathering.

His return marks the first time he has been seen in public since early 2023, a period during which concerns had grown over his health and ability to resume his legislative duties.
Constituents who spoke at the airport said Kirwa’s presence had been deeply missed since his election in 2022, noting that his return restores hope for renewed engagement and leadership in the constituency.
Kirwa is expected to take some time to continue his recovery at home before officially resuming parliamentary activities. His team indicated that medical follow-ups will continue locally, but they remain optimistic about his steady improvement.
