Drama has erupted at the Lugari home of the late former Member of Parliament Honorable Cyrus Jirongo after several individuals allegedly surfaced claiming to be his children, just hours before his expected burial today, December 30, 2025.
The former Lugari legislator passed away following a tragic road accident along the Nairobi–Naivasha Highway. According to preliminary accounts, Jirongo’s vehicle was involved in a collision with a Climax bus that was traveling from Nairobi to Busia.
The bus driver reportedly told investigators that Jirongo’s car joined the highway from the wrong side, leading to the fatal crash. However, the family has disputed this version of events, insisting that there are unanswered questions surrounding the accident.
Jirongo’s relatives have openly expressed suspicion and are demanding a comprehensive investigation to establish the true circumstances that led to his death.
They argue that the accounts given by the driver and witnesses are inconsistent and have urged authorities to conduct a thorough probe before closing the case.

As the family grapples with grief and calls for justice, a new controversy has emerged. During a memorial service held at the family home, one of Jirongo’s sons addressed mourners and raised concern over individuals allegedly presenting themselves as the late politician’s children.
His remarks, captured in a widely shared video, sparked murmurs among those in attendance.
The son firmly warned that such claims would not be entertained, stressing that all children belonging to Jirongo’s family are known and had already been formally introduced to the public and extended family. He described the situation as disrespectful, especially at a time when the family is mourning.
Security was reportedly heightened at the homestead as burial preparations continued, with elders stepping in to calm tensions. As Jirongo is laid to rest, the family hopes for dignity, truth, and closure amid the unfolding drama.
