The political temperatures in Trans Nzoia County appear to be rising sharply ahead of the 2027 General Election, with the latest incident in Kiminini drawing public outrage and concern.
According to a viral video seen by The Kenya Times, Kiminini Member of Parliament Hon. Kakai Bisau allegedly slapped and snatched a microphone from a personal assistant to Governor George Natembeya during a public function in Kiminini.
The dramatic scene, which unfolded before a cheering crowd, left residents murmuring and questioning the growing animosity between the two leaders’ camps.
Witnesses say the confrontation began when the governor’s aide took to the podium to deliver a brief message on behalf of Governor Natembeya.

The crowd reportedly cheered loudly, something that appeared to irritate the MP. Moments later, Bisau stormed toward the aide, slapped him, and forcefully grabbed the microphone.
The incident has since sparked heated debate across the county, with political analysts warning that unchecked hostilities between leaders could destabilize the region ahead of the polls.
“What we are seeing is a clear sign of political intolerance. Leaders must learn to respect each other and exercise restraint,” said one local observer.
Governor Natembeya’s allies have condemned the act, terming it an embarrassment and a reflection of desperation from rivals sensing political defeat. Meanwhile, Bisau’s team has remained tight-lipped about the matter.
Residents have urged security agencies and political leaders to intervene and restore calm, warning that such incidents could set a dangerous precedent if left unaddressed.
