There was drama in Ugunja, Siaya County, after an agitated resident rode a bicycle to a local police station carrying the carcass of a large python, moments after it killed his dog.
The bizarre incident, which was captured on video and has since circulated widely on social media, drew a crowd of shocked residents and curious onlookers.
According to the man, the snake had invaded his homestead earlier in the day and attacked his dog, which he says was his only source of security.
He claimed he found the python in the act of swallowing the dog, prompting him to confront and kill the reptile. Visibly upset, the man told police officers that he had reported frequent snake invasions in his area for several years without any action being taken by the relevant authorities.

“This dog was everything to me. It guarded my home and property. Now it is gone because nothing was done despite my complaints,” he lamented while addressing officers at the station.
He accused wildlife authorities of neglecting residents who live in snake-prone areas, exposing them to danger and losses.
The man further demanded compensation for the loss of his dog and called on the government to urgently intervene to protect residents from wild animals.
He insisted that police officers would now have to help provide security at his home following the death of the dog.
He also vowed to pursue the matter to the highest levels, including traveling to Nairobi to seek answers from the wildlife and animal departments if his concerns are ignored.
Police officers at the station received the snake and advised the man to formally record a statement as investigations commenced.
They also urged residents to report wildlife incidents through established channels to ensure safer handling.
The incident has reignited debate on human-wildlife conflict in parts of Nyanza, with locals calling for stronger response mechanisms to protect lives and property.
