The Personal Aide to the President of the Republic of Kenya, Farouk Kibet, has once again dominated public discourse after a video of him lecturing a sitting legislator went viral on social media.
Kibet, known for his no-nonsense attitude and sharp tongue, was captured in the video publicly rebuking Turbo Member of Parliament Janet Sitienei over the deplorable condition of schools in her constituency.
In the video, filmed during a function in Kiplombe area, Kibet appears visibly angry as he criticizes the state of learning facilities, citing lack of electricity, water, and other essential amenities in several schools.
He accused the MP of neglecting her constituency while spending most of her time in Nairobi under the pretext of “defending” the President.
“Some of you say you are in Nairobi protecting the President. Protecting him from who? Are you his bodyguards? He has police officers who do that job. Come back home and show us your work!” Kibet was heard saying to the cheering crowd.

The remarks have since sparked widespread debate online, with many Kenyans expressing mixed reactions. Some hailed Kibet for calling out underperforming leaders, describing him as a fearless defender of accountability.
Others, however, accused him of overstepping his mandate and using his proximity to President William Ruto to intimidate elected leaders.
For years, Farouk Kibet has been known as one of the most influential figures around the President, often described as a man who operates behind the scenes.
However, his recent foray into active politics—particularly in the Malava Constituency, where he has been campaigning for United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate David Ndakwa—has placed him firmly in the public eye.
Political analysts argue that Kibet’s increasing visibility signals a new phase in his role within the ruling coalition.
“Farouk has always been the President’s trusted confidant, but now he’s taking a more direct political role,” said one Nairobi-based political observer. “His statements carry weight, and when he speaks, people listen.”
The incident in Turbo has reportedly caused discomfort among UDA leaders in the Rift Valley, with some viewing it as an internal rebuke from within the President’s inner circle.
Sources indicate that Sitienei’s allies are considering issuing a formal statement defending her record, citing several development projects implemented during her tenure.
Meanwhile, Kibet has remained unapologetic. Speaking later during another event, he reiterated his commitment to pushing leaders to deliver tangible results.
“We can no longer afford lazy leaders. The President is working hard every day for Kenyans; those representing him on the ground must do the same,” he declared.
As the debate rages on, it is evident that Farouk Kibet’s once shadowy political role is evolving. Whether his new public approach will strengthen or strain relationships within the ruling coalition remains to be seen — but one thing is clear: his voice is now impossible to ignore.
