Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Honorable Raila Odinga has finally reappeared in public after weeks of absence that had fueled speculations about his health.
The veteran politician had missed several key national and party events, prompting online chatter that he had been advised by doctors to take a rest following his demanding political engagements across the country.
However, Odinga on Thursday silenced the rumors, appearing energetic and focused as he updated Kenyans on the plans for ODM’s 20th anniversary celebrations. Addressing Kenyans from his office, the Azimio la Umoja leader said he had been working behind the scenes to prepare for the milestone.
“Our mission is to celebrate ODM’s 20 years of resilience and service to the people. We have decided to involve counties across the country before the main celebrations in Mombasa,” Raila said.

According to the new calendar shared, the ODM@20 events will kick off with a soccer tournament on October 9th and 10th. The tournament will mark the beginning of month-long activities leading to the grand finale.
The celebrations will then move to Kajiado County on October 15th, Turkana on October 26th, and Kilifi’s Magarini Constituency on November 2nd. Nairobi County will host the events on November 9th.
The climax of the anniversary will take place in Mombasa between November 14th and 16th, 2025. Raila emphasized that the postponement of the main event was deliberate, aimed at ensuring inclusivity and giving more counties a chance to participate.

ODM, founded in 2005 after Kenya’s historic referendum, has been a dominant force in Kenyan politics for two decades. The party has consistently championed democratic reforms, devolution, and people-centered governance, with Raila Odinga at its helm.
His reappearance comes at a time when political temperatures are gradually rising ahead of the 2027 General Election. Supporters expressed relief at seeing him in good health, dismissing the wave of speculations that had filled social media in recent days.
As the ODM family gears up for the celebrations, Raila reaffirmed his commitment to unity and grassroots engagement, noting that the anniversary was not just a party event but a moment for Kenyans to reflect on democracy and governance.
With the ODM@20 calendar now public, all eyes will be on how the events unfold as Raila continues to consolidate his political base.
