Puzzle as One-Year-Old Child Dies in Police Cell

A family in Makueni County is demanding justice following the tragic death of their one-and-a-half-year-old child at Kambu Police Station. The incident has sparked outrage and calls for accountability from the community.

The child’s mother, speaking to journalists, recounted the events leading to the tragedy. She explained that she was arrested on Wednesday after a business deal went awry.

Despite requesting time to retrieve her child’s medicine, the arresting officer denied her request. She had obtained the medicine the previous night after the child fell ill.

While detained, the mother said she repeatedly asked the officers to allow her to take the child to the hospital, but her pleas were ignored.

She also alleged that she was physically assaulted by the police while in the cell, with some slaps inadvertently striking the child who was strapped to her back.

Her harrowing account revealed that after realizing her child had died, the police hastily released her and forced her out of the station in the middle of the night.

“When I revealed to him that the child had passed on, he forced me out of the station and stated that he would call the OCS who had instructed that I should remain locked in,” she explained.

An autopsy has yet to be conducted to determine the exact cause of the child’s death.

This incident has drawn parallels to a similar case at Kikopey Police Station on March 12, where a suspect died under mysterious circumstances.

Residents received an autopsy report indicating that the suspect died from strangulation, leading them to storm and torch the police station in a bid to seek justice.

The Makueni case has intensified calls for a thorough investigation and accountability from the police.

Human rights organizations and community leaders are urging the authorities to ensure that justice is served and that such incidents are not repeated.

The family, grieving the loss of their young child, is appealing for support and justice in the face of this devastating tragedy.

The community remains vigilant, awaiting the autopsy results and the response from the police authorities.
