Kapseret Member of Parliament Honorable Oscar Kipchumba Sudi has won praise from Kenyans after gifting his long-serving worker a fully built three-bedroom house in a rare show of appreciation for loyalty and hard work.
The legislator shared the touching story of how his journey with Hermstone Makam began back in 2011 along Riara Road in Nairobi.

At the time, Makam was working at a construction site when he approached Sudi and volunteered to wash his car. Impressed by his diligence, honesty, and humility, Sudi agreed and later offered him an opportunity to work with him permanently.
According to Sudi, after observing Makam’s commitment over time, he gave him fare to relocate to Eldoret, Kapseret, where he had moved before becoming a Member of Parliament.

There, Makam took charge of maintaining Sudi’s compound at a time when the area was remote and lacked basic amenities such as electricity.
“He waited patiently, taking care of the compound before I even started building my home. He planted flowers, did garden work, and ensured everything was in order as I built my house,” Sudi recalled.

The MP revealed that Makam’s consistency and trustworthiness inspired him to make a promise that one day he would help him own a home.
For 14 years, Makam stood by him, transforming the compound and performing his duties without complaint or demands.
Sudi noted that the worker never reminded him of the promise. Instead, he continued working faithfully, a factor that deeply moved the legislator.
“Because of his resilience, honesty, and hard work, I decided to reward him,” Sudi said, adding that he recently remembered the promise and fulfilled it by gifting Makam a three-bedroom house.
The gesture has sparked widespread admiration online, with many Kenyans applauding Sudi for recognizing and rewarding loyalty, describing the act as a powerful lesson on gratitude, humanity, and servant leadership.
