One Thing That Saved Kericho Governor Mutai From Impeachment By Senate

Kericho Governor Mutai has been saved from impeachment. The Senate of Kenya terminated his impeachment motion voting 34 members in favor for one reason. Mutai was accused of many things including gross violation of the constitution and assault of female victim. Shockingly, those who impeached him at the Kericho County Assembly failed to do on thing during the proceedings.

According to the video shared by Kakamega County senator Boni Khalawale. Kericho County Assembly failed to meet 2/3 constitutional threshold requirement in impeaching country boss. This led to the termination of the impeachment process leaving County assembly legal team scratching their heads.

This is a clear message that everything must be respected and every detail in the constitution must be considered before impeachment motion is tabled at any given point.

The Senate will now focus fully on impeaching the second in command Rigathi Gachagua who is supposed to face it on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. He will be expected to defend himself from 11 allegations filled by Kibwezi member of Parliament Mutuse. This is coming just days after National Assembly Impeached him. Over 280 legislators voted to send him home leaving him at the mercy of the Senate. All Kenyans are waiting to see how things will play out soon.
