
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua made a bold decision not to field a candidate in the upcoming Mbeere north by election.
Flanked by his supporters at the DCP party headquarters, the vibrant opposition leader made it clear that his party will support the DP party which is associated with former attorney general Justine Muturi.
Well, details have emerged of a mistake they made in Mbeere that might hand President William Ruto’s UDA Party an easy win.

According to reports, Karis is a seating member of the Embu County assembly. He did not resign from his position as the Elected MCA under the Mbus Party. This has opened up a fight between the Mbus Party and the DP party. Mbus Party are claiming that he is their party candidate if he decides to go on and vie for Mbeere North seat.
Legally, he was supposed to resign on time as the MCA before presenting his papers for the nominations. This could lead to the dismissal from the election and It will be a big blow for him and the opposition team. Those allied to UDA Party are following closely since this will be the best opportunity for them to cement their influence in the region.

Newton Karis will not appear on the Mbeere North ballot.
He did to resign from his position as MCA. Before Muturiโs Democratic Party (DP) submitted his name to the IEBC as its candidate for Mbeere North, Karis was,and still is a member of the Mbus Party, now known as the Devolution Empowerment Party of Kiraitu Murungi, which sponsored him to the Embu County Assembly.
The Mbus Party has already written to the IEBC accusing DP of acting unethically. Furthermore, Karis is not even a registered member of DP.
The Mbus Party has maintained that if Karis appears on the ballot, it will only be as their candidate.
