An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) official has issued a stern warning to President William Ruto over what he terms as a critical political miscalculation that could cost the Head of State significantly in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
The caution comes at a time when political temperatures in the country are gradually rising, with various leaders beginning to position themselves for the next electoral contest.
ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale, through a message shared on his social media platform, expressed concern over the individuals President Ruto has recently been associating with.
Etale noted that although President Ruto is, in his view, a strategic political figure, some of the people surrounding him are allegedly damaging his public image and diminishing goodwill among potential voters.

According to Etale, certain political allies of the President are increasingly becoming a liability. He argues that the utterances and conduct of these individuals risk alienating supporters who may have otherwise been open to backing Ruto’s re-election bid.
Etale insisted that the President must urgently review the company he keeps, warning that failure to do so may result in a significant shift in public perception.
“There are some fellas President Ruto is associating with who, when they utter just one word in his favour, people get turned off. Strategy Mr. President. Strategy. You are a master strategist but on this, you will find the masses gone,” Etale wrote.
His remarks come amid heightened political realignments within both Kenya Kwanza and Azimio coalitions, with each side working to strengthen its base ahead of 2027.
Political analysts suggest that such warnings underscore the growing scrutiny on President Ruto’s inner circle and the broader implications their actions could have on the upcoming elections.
As the nation edges closer to another competitive poll, the President’s response—if any—to such criticism remains to be seen.
