President William Ruto has signaled that his recent political gains are only the beginning of a broader, more calculated strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a visit to the North Eastern region on Friday, the Head of State, accompanied by senior leaders including Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, stated that the outcome of the just-concluded by-elections marked the launch of a new political direction for his administration.
Ruto celebrated victories in several constituencies among them Mbeere North, Malava, Kasipul, Ugunja and Magarini describing the wins as proof that the “broad-based government approach” is working.
He revealed that leaders aligned with his administration had agreed not to field competing candidates in the by-elections, a tactic he credited for the sweeping wins.

According to the President, this spirit of cooperation will form the backbone of his 2027 campaign plan. He emphasized that the broad-based model is not merely a political arrangement but a governance strategy aimed at fostering stability, peace and inclusivity.
“This was just the beginning,” Ruto said. “What you saw in the by-elections is part of a bigger plan. In 2027, we will go in as a united, broad-based administration to safeguard peace, unity and development.”
His remarks are seen as a political warning to opposition leaders particularly those allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has recently been at loggerheads with the Kenya Kwanza leadership.
Ruto urged opposition parties to shift from what he termed “empty shouting” and instead develop concrete agendas that can benefit the country.
While Ruto did not mention any leader by name, his tone suggested that internal and external critics should prepare for intensified political consolidation as the 2027 race approaches.
