After spending many of his political years in the opposition camp, Opiyo Wandayi finally joined government as President William Ruto nominated him for the Energy CS position. That is a move that elevated Wandaya from being the Ugunja constituency MP to becoming the Energy Cabinet Secretary in the country and guess what, Wandayi didn’t hesitate as he took the position with open hands.
For days now, Opiyo Wandayi has been working tirelessly to ensure that he doesn’t disappoint. He knows well enough the challenges that are in the Energy department because he has been talking about them and thus, many Kenyans have been hopeful that he will be able to solve many of those challenges.
While that is the case, Kenyans have still been facing power blackouts in recent days. Many people have been complaining about that and today, Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi finally broke his silence on the issue.
According to the new Energy CS, he is not to be blamed for the power blackouts. Wandayi stated that the recent countrywide power blackouts are due to the old transmission lines and equipment. The good thing is that he promised Kenyans to be patience, claiming that his Ministry has plans to modernise infrastructure and thus, solve the power blackouts problem once and for all.
Whether Opiyo Wandayi will be successful or not in his plans is not yet known for now but definitely, it will be known by time. For now, it is just a matter of giving him time to work and implement his ideas.
