Former Cabinet Secretary and Presidential Economic Advisor, Moses Kuria, has weighed in following controversial claims by Suna East Member of Parliament, Honorable Junet Mohammed, that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is allegedly attempting to divide the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Junet had sparked political debate after asserting that Uhuru promised one billion shillings to individuals who would persuade ODM members to decamp from President William Ruto’s administration and join the United opposition.
The remarks quickly drew nationwide attention, with many seeking reactions from key political figures.
In response, Kuria delivered a pointed message to Junet, urging him to reconsider his allegations.

According to Kuria, the ODM has been grappling with internal challenges following the passing of its long-time leader, the late Honorable Raila Odinga. He emphasized that while the party faces a critical transitional period, Uhuru Kenyatta is not part of its internal struggles.
“Mistakes are being made in the political discourse around ODM,” Kuria remarked. “The party has its own battles to fight. Uhuru Kenyatta is not an enemy here, and it is time Junet and others allow him to rest from political controversies that do not involve him.”
Kuria further noted that attempts to link Uhuru to the ODM’s internal affairs could distract the party from addressing its real challenges.
He urged Junet and other leaders within the party to focus on strengthening their own ranks rather than creating narratives that place blame externally.
Political analysts have observed that Kuria’s statement serves both as a defense of Uhuru’s reputation and a subtle critique of internal divisions within ODM.
With Kenya’s political landscape continuing to evolve, the remarks are likely to fuel further discussions on party loyalty, leadership succession, and inter-party relations.
As tensions simmer, Kenyans await the next moves from ODM leaders and whether they will publicly respond to Kuria’s call to “fight their own wars.”
