Kenyans are increasingly eager to see how the 2027 General Election will unfold, amid growing dissatisfaction with the Kenya Kwanza government under President William Ruto.
As the cost of living remains high and several campaign promises remain unfulfilled, political anxiety is slowly creeping in, with many citizens openly expressing their desire for change.
That anxiety was heightened following a late-night social media post by Mt Kenya vocal politician Moses Kuria, which has since sparked widespread debate.
Writing on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Kuria made a bold political prediction that caught the attention of many Kenyans and political observers.
In his New Year message, Kuria stated: “The following people will be the surprise package of 2026, I predict. They will change the political direction of our nation in 2026. Happy New Year Kenyans!” He went on to name three leaders: Gideon Moi, Wycliffe Oparanya, and Mama Ida Odinga.

What raised eyebrows is that none of the three leaders is currently at the centre of active frontline politics. However, according to Kuria, their silent influence could significantly shape the direction of the 2027 elections.
He suggested that while current political conversations are largely focused on President William Ruto and his close allies, as well as opposition figures such as Kalonzo Musyoka and Fred Matiang’i, key players operating behind the scenes are being overlooked.
Kenyans quickly reacted to Kuria’s remarks, with some agreeing that the three leaders are seasoned “boardroom” political operators known for influencing outcomes quietly rather than through public rallies.
Others questioned whether such behind-the-scenes influence could truly alter the political landscape.
As time moves swiftly toward 2027, uncertainty continues to dominate the national mood. With rising frustration over unmet promises, many Kenyans are watching closely, hopeful that the next election cycle will deliver meaningful change for the country.
