Kenyans on social media have been calling for the release of online influencer Aoko Otieno alias Maverick Aoko.
It was reported that, she was picked up by DCI Kenya officers over her tweets targeting powerful people in the government.
Well, today on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Activist Hanifer posted a picture of her with Aoko at Muthaiga police station. She added that the influencer will be arraigned on Monday at Milimani law courts.
“Met with @AokoOtieno_ she’s doing well and sends her regards and love to you all and says Aluta Continua!!!!! She will be arraigned at Milimani court on Monday and we’ll be there too” Wrote Activist Hanifer on X.
The appearance of Aoko can at least bring sign of relief to the family who were searching for her for two days now.
Her arrest brings back the question on limitations of freedom of expression online and how one should conduct him of herself.
