United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate Leonard Wamudhende received a warm and celebratory welcome in Parliament on Tuesday as he arrived for his official swearing-in ceremony as the new Member of Parliament for Mbeere North.
Wamudhende clinched victory in the recently concluded by-election after defeating United Opposition candidate Hon. Karish, who had contested on a DP Party ticket.

Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah led government-leaning legislators in welcoming the new MP, praising the residents of Mbeere North for what he termed a “decisive and visionary choice.”
Ichung’wah urged Wamudhende to remain committed to his campaign pledges, emphasizing that the people of Mbeere North were expecting tangible development and effective representation.
“We congratulate Hon. Wamudhende and remind him that the trust the people have placed in him must be reflected in service delivery, accountability, and development,” Ichung’wah stated during the brief congratulatory session on the floor of the House.
