Kenyans across the country have lauded President William Ruto after he made a surprise directive aimed at addressing long-standing frustrations among grassroots administrators.
For years, chiefs and assistant chiefs who had attained additional academic qualifications have lamented being overlooked for promotions despite serving communities diligently across the country.
Speaking on Tuesday, President Ruto ordered that all chiefs and assistant chiefs who have completed the relevant educational courses be promoted immediately.
He emphasized that these officers play a crucial role in maintaining order, coordinating government programmes, and supporting citizens at the local level, yet many have remained stuck in the same job groups for years.

According to the President, it was unjust for officers who had invested in further studies to continue languishing in stagnant positions while carrying out critical national duties.
He noted that promoting them was not only a matter of fairness but also a necessary step toward strengthening public administration at the grassroots.
The announcement sparked excitement among administrators and the public, with many praising the President for addressing an issue that had been neglected for a long time.
Several Kenyans took to social media expressing gratitude, saying the directive would boost morale and improve service delivery nationwide.
