President William Ruto and KANU Party Leader Gideon Moi have officially sealed a political unity pact, paving the way for KANU’s entry into the broad-based government.
The agreement was announced during Ruto’s visit to Moi’s Kabarak home on Friday, marking a significant step toward political reconciliation and national cohesion.
President Ruto described the deal as a bold move aimed at uniting Kenyans and fostering development across critical sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, and education.
He emphasized that his decision to reach out to Moi was driven by a shared vision of transforming Kenya into a developed nation.

I reached out to my brother so that we can move the country forward. If there’s any problem, don’t blame Moi, blame me,” Ruto said, highlighting his commitment to inclusive governance.
The Head of State further revealed that their discussions led to KANU’s formal return to government after years in opposition, adding that the partnership also extends to engaging other leaders like Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta in national dialogue.
On his part, Gideon Moi lauded Ruto’s gesture and stated that he chose unity over political rivalry. “The president knows why I didn’t vie. I had unfinished projects in Baringo, and now I’m ready to work with him for Kenya’s progress,” he said.
During the visit, Ruto announced major development projects in Baringo, including a new university in Kabarnet in honor of the late Daniel arap Moi, and the upgrade of major roads and sports facilities in the region.
The unity pact between Ruto and Moi marks a new political chapter, rekindling hopes of stability and inclusivity in Kenya’s leadership landscape.
