Ford Kenya party leader and National Assembly Speaker Honorable Moses Masika Wetangula continues to face mounting political pressure following the loss of the Chwele Kabuchai Ward by-election, with fresh criticism now coming from within his own backyard.
Kabuchai Member of Parliament Honorable Majimbo Kalasinga has once again launched a blistering attack on Wetangula, accusing him of making a critical political mistake during the 2022 general election that is now coming back to haunt him.
Speaking on Christmas Day at his rural home where he hosted residents and leaders for the festive celebrations, Kalasinga openly faulted Wetangula’s decision to block former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati from defending his seat in 2022.
In a speech captured on video and widely shared online, the MP claimed that Wetangula prioritized “bad politics” over development, a move he says has cost Bungoma County dearly.

According to Kalasinga, Wangamati had laid down a clear development vision for Bungoma, parts of which are still visible across the county.
He argued that removing him disrupted continuity and stalled key projects that residents were already benefiting from.
The MP further alleged that the current county leadership has failed to match Wangamati’s development pace, leaving residents frustrated and increasingly vocal.
“People are demanding development, not politics,” Kalasinga told the gathering, adding that Wetangula is now bearing the political consequences of decisions made in 2022.
He claimed that growing public dissatisfaction is directly linked to unmet development expectations, especially in Bungoma’s rural areas.
The remarks come at a delicate time for Wetangula, whose influence in Bungoma politics appears to be facing renewed tests.
Analysts note that the open rebellion by leaders he once supported signals deeper cracks within Ford Kenya’s grassroots support, raising questions about the party’s future unity ahead of upcoming political contests.
