The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has announced the passing of its Deputy Secretary General, Daniel Ole Sambu, describing him as a devoted leader who played a central role in advancing the party’s policies under the Kenya Kwanza administration.
According to a statement issued by the ruling party, Ole Sambu died on Wednesday after a short illness.
UDA praised the late official as a dedicated champion of President William Ruto’s development agenda and a committed voice for both party unity and community empowerment.
His recent public engagements included hosting President Ruto at the Maa Cultural and Tourism Festival in Amboseli, where he highlighted the importance of cultural preservation and wildlife conservation—areas in which he was widely respected.

Party officials noted that Ole Sambu’s leadership had strengthened UDA’s presence in Maa-speaking regions, while his advocacy for wildlife protection earned him recognition beyond political circles.
His death, they said, leaves a significant gap in the party’s administrative structure and ongoing mobilization efforts.
Ole Sambu’s passing comes at a difficult moment for the broader Kenya Kwanza Alliance, which is also mourning the death of nominated ANC MP Denar Joseph Hamisi.
The alliance described the two losses as a major blow, noting that both leaders were instrumental in supporting government initiatives at national and grassroots levels.
Messages of condolence have continued to pour in from political leaders, civil society groups, and community elders who hailed Ole Sambu as a bridge-builder and a selfless servant. Funeral arrangements will be communicated by the family and the party in due course.
