This are interesting times in Kenya. It seems like there is an outbreak of impeachments across the country. Members of the county assemble and those of National Assembly seem to be reading from the same scripts.
As Kenyans are focused on removal of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from office, another governor has been sent packing.
According to reports from Kericho, Governor Eric Mutai who was elected on United Democratic Party has been impeached.
31 members of Kericho county assembly voted to ouster him over various reasons. He has been accused of gross violation of the constitution, syphoning of public recourses among others.
This is coming just days after he pleaded with Members of county assembly not to impeach him at a Funeral. He claimed that he has a young family which needs him to protect them now.
“I’m pleading with you people to spare me the impeachment. I’m a human being and if I have wronged you in any way. Kindly forgive me for that. I plead with you please” said Mutai in a previous function.
