Today on August 18, 2025, President William Ruto and Raila Odinga organized a joint Parliamentary group meeting. In the meeting, they scolded some legislators for allegedly taking bribes and promoting corruption within the parliament.
The President made it public that he is not going to tolerate anything like corruption within Parliament. He blasted members of Parliament for allegedly leading an extortion team that has been taking money from Kenyans to pass bills.
Well, what left Kenyans shocked is how Kalonzo Musyoka was betrayed. While addressing the parliamentary group meeting, National Assembly Majority leader Kimani Ichung’wah revealed to the President the number of legislators who had attended the meeting.

Those who attended the meeting included those from the wiper party. This is a political betrayal to Kalonzo Musyoka who is the head of the opposition team now. Him and other leaders; Rigathi Gachagua, Fred Matiang’i and Natembeya have been touring the country calling on Kenyans to vote out President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.
Seeing his members at the meeting chaired by Ruto and Raila is an indication that they don’t care about his leadership or they have other plans ahead of the 2027 general election.
Kenyans allied to opposition teams have asked Kalonzo Musyoka to take action and punish those who attended the meeting since Wiper Party was not part of it and is not in the broad based administration.
