Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has opened up on the growing tension and internal wrangles within the opposition, revealing that some Jubilee Party allies have turned their attacks against him instead of focusing on uniting to challenge President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during an interview in Nairobi on Sunday, Gachagua expressed disappointment over what he termed as misplaced priorities within the opposition coalition.
He accused some leaders, particularly those from the Jubilee faction, of engaging in unnecessary infighting that weakens the team’s unity and gives President Ruto an upper hand ahead of 2027.

“It is unfortunate that some of our allies in Jubilee are spending more time attacking me instead of mobilizing Kenyans to send Ruto home. The opposition should remain united and focused,” Gachagua said.
The former Deputy President further warned those planning to abandon the opposition camp, saying they will be branded as traitors by the public.
According to him, Kenyans are tired of leaders who switch sides for personal gain and will not trust such individuals to lead the country.
“Anyone thinking of leaving the opposition will be seen as a betrayer of the people’s cause. Kenyans are watching closely, and they will not support turncoats in 2027,” he added.
Gachagua emphasized that the opposition must face President Ruto as a united team rather than as individuals if they are to secure victory.
He noted that unity among opposition leaders remains the only path toward liberating Kenyans from what he described as poor governance and unfulfilled promises under Ruto’s administration.
His remarks come amid speculation of divisions within the opposition over strategy and leadership ahead of the crucial 2027 polls.
