The statement by Nyeri County governor His Excellency Mutahi Kahiga has elicited mixed reactions online with tension brewing within the republic of Kenya.
Kahiga remarks on October 21, 2025 while speaking in Kieni, Nyeri County offended Kenyans allied to the late Raila Odinga, prompting attacks from ODM party allied members.
Well, in her speech, Wanga claimed that Kahiga is the Spokesperson to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. This statement has triggered Gachagua Ally to respond quickly.

Laikipia Senator John Methu has called out Wanga for trying to connect the remarks made by governor Kahiga with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. According to Methu, Kahiga should be held responsible for his conduct and that should not be extended to the people he associates with.

GLADYS WANGA, you’ve mentioned H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH more than the accused in your statement. But what caught my attention was your statement that, Rigathi, his allies and his supporters cannot be your friends. I want to assume you meant your family, not your party. One of the fundamental rights that Raila Odinga got us in the new constitution is the freedom of association. We shall be friends with everyone, of course respecting your call for us to spare your family. Not that we’d want to have you GLADYS as our friend. Who would want a character who can organise goons to hurt Rigathi Gachagua in a solemn national function, such as the send off of one of Kenya’s greatest sons Raila. Who does that? You can hate Riggy G all you want Gladys, but he responds with love.
In other news, Kahiga Mutahi has since apologised and resigned as the CoG chair. Raila the great wouldn’t have trolled a community just because one of them erred.
