Tranzoia County, Kenya – Former Health Cabinet Secretary Honorable Susan Nakhumicha has officially thrown her hat into the ring for the 2027 Tranzoia gubernatorial race, promising a fresh vision for the county.
Speaking at a packed church service in Tranzoia, Nakhumicha accused the current governor, His Excellency George Natembeya, of neglecting the county’s development in favor of political opposition.
“Tranzoia County cannot progress when its leader spends more time attacking the national government than building our communities,” Nakhumicha declared.
She argued that Natembeya’s confrontational approach has blocked critical partnerships with the national government, leaving the county lagging behind in health, education, and economic growth.
Nakhumicha highlighted the county’s struggling sectors, saying: “Our hospitals are under-equipped, schools are underperforming, and economic opportunities remain limited. These are areas where leadership should deliver results, not political headlines.”

She accused Natembeya of failing to demonstrate a clear plan for the people of Tranzoia, instead focusing on opposition politics that, she says, do little for everyday residents.
The former Cabinet Secretary pledged to bring a collaborative approach to governance, working hand-in-hand with national authorities to fast-track development projects.
“I am committed to transforming Tranzoia County into a hub of opportunity and growth. Our people deserve a leader who prioritizes solutions over politics,” she said.
Political analysts suggest that Nakhumicha’s focus on governance failures and development promises could make her a formidable contender, particularly among voters frustrated with the county’s slow progress.
As the 2027 elections draw nearer, the battle for Tranzoia’s leadership is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched political contests in the region.
