Nairobi County Woman Representative Hon. Esther Passaris has moved to clarify widespread reports alleging that she had withdrawn from the 2027 race and endorsed Senator Karen Nyamu as her preferred successor.
The claims, which surfaced online on November 20, 2025, were fuelled by several digitally altered posters circulating across social media platforms, prompting public debate and speculation.
In a detailed statement released on Thursday, Passaris dismissed the reports, terming them misleading and politically motivated. She emphasized that her position regarding the 2027 elections had been distorted by individuals keen on creating confusion within Nairobi’s political landscape.

“Over the last 24 hours, I’ve seen several edited posters circulating online. Let me set the record straight,” she stated. Passaris reaffirmed that by 2027, she will have completed two full terms as Nairobi Woman Representative—an affirmative action seat she believes should offer leadership opportunities to other women. “I believe it is time for another woman to lead,” she noted.
However, Passaris made it clear that she has not endorsed any candidate for the position. “To be clear: I have not endorsed anyone for the seat. It is far too early for that, and I will not be drawn into political games, misinterpretations, or manipulated graphics,” she said, adding that she will respect the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party’s decision when nomination time comes.
In a significant political pronouncement, Passaris openly endorsed President William Ruto for the 2027 presidential race, praising his leadership and what she described as a transformational agenda for Kenya and the African continent.
“My focus remains on service, delivery, and being part of Kenya’s shift from politics to prosperity,” she concluded.
Her statement has since stirred fresh conversations within ODM and the broader Nairobi political arena as the 2027 race begins to take shape.
