Prior to the August 2022 General election, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki faced off in a battle for Ruto’s running mate. That is a battle that Gachagua won as he was picked as Ruto’s running mate but as things seem to be, their war didn’t stop there. That is because several Mt. Kenya Region leaders have been aligning themselves behind the two leaders who are OK different sides.
Just recently, some leaders from Mt. Kenya East endorsed Kindiki as their kingpin and today, things even got worse for Gachagua as 48 MPs from Mt. Kenya Region publicly endorsed the Interior boss as their leader.
As we are currently speaking, DP Rigathi Gachagua has broken his silence amidst those endorsement stories. On his side, the Second in Commamd decided to ignore those news as he talked about the chaos witnessed in Muthurwa.
Through his official X account, DP Rigathi Gachagua sent a strong message to Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja. The DP urged Sakaja to sit down with the leadership of the market before forcing out those traders from the market. He reminded the Nairobi boss how they campaigned there together and promised residents good life.
President William Ruto’s Deputy went on to tell Sakaja that the traders have gone to him for help and that is why he opted to send him that message. Although the message was long, the former Mathira MP was not keen on involving himself on the politics of Mt. Kenya Region.
