President William Ruto and his administration have been facing difficult times from the courts. The judiciary has so far issued injections in various policies leaving Kenya Kwanza leaders scratching their heads.
Just a few weeks ago, the court blocked Adani deal before the president canceled it after Adani officials were indicted in the United States of America. Well, another directive has been blocked.
Judge Judge Bahati Mwamuye has issued a ruling suspending any immunity and privileges accorded to Bill Gates and Melinda Gates foundation officials. According to the judge, the officials should not enjoy any privileges until the case is heard and determined.
“The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, in this Order referred to as “the Foundation”, being a charitable trust established to fight poverty, disease and inequality in over one hundred and forty countries globally, and with which the Government of Kenya has entered into an agreement for cooperation, is hereby declared to be an organisation to which section 11 of the Act shall apply,” read the notice.

The case was filled by the law society of Kenya lawyers. They asked the judge to rule that the privileges were null and void.
Kenyans had raised questions on why the foundation officers were being given immunity if what they are planning to do is legal. It is not yet clear what they are planning to do but the organization is more focused on vaccination and climactic change policies.
They will have to wait and see how things will play out going forward with the court in the picture. Kenyans have raised their voices on the issue. Some are asking the court to stop the immunity in totality.
