Orange Democratic party has issued a clarification on appointment of Kisumu governor Nyong’o as acting Party leader. Few hours ago, it was reported that Odinga has left the party in hands of Nyong’o with intention of focusing on AU seat. This a was decision allegedly made during the central coordination meeting which was attended by Odinga himself.
Well, ODM has come out to deny claims of Nyong’o appointment as Party leader. According to their post on X. Nyong’o was just appointed to chair a committee and not to takeover from Raila Odinga.
Raila is still the defacto party leader. He is only moving to AU Candidature campaigns but has not officially relinquished his position.
” CLARIFICATION: The ODM Party Leader is @RailaOdinga. However, due to the nature of the AUC Chairperson’s Campaign which requires his direct involvement, he has designated Prof @AnyangNyongo , the Governor of Kisumu County to Chair meetings of the Central Management Committee.” Posted ODM Party.
