For weeks now, Kenyans have been enjoying new internet in Kenya, the Starlink. The Starlink which is linked to American billionaire Elon Musk has sparked mixed reactions in the country.
Kenyans have been buying the dish massively for stability of it in various counties. Unlike Safaricom which is using fiber cables, Starlink is using satellite that is more advanced.
It seems like Starlink revolution in the country has rubbed some leaders the wrong way. A member of Parliament has revealed his Move when the national assembly resumes sittings.
According to Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji. He is going to defend Safaricom in Parliament against Starlink entrance to Kenya.
His argument is based on the fact that Kenyans are employed by Safaricom unlike Starlink. He continued by claiming, Starlink does not have any benefits to the country like Safaricom.
” I will defend Safaricom in Parliament after recess. We must protect our brand form external service providers whom we don’t benefit from them directly. Starlink is good yes, but our people are not employed there.” Said Gitonga.
