President William Ruto’s tour of Kiambu County has sent strong political signals across the Mount Kenya region, with his allies now revealing the next phase of their strategy — a move that could spell trouble for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The Head of State attended a church service in Gatundu North, where he was warmly received by congregants and residents.
He was accompanied by a host of Kenya Kwanza leaders, among them Kikuyu Constituency Member of Parliament and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, who openly praised the President’s leadership and development agenda for the region.
Following the Kiambu visit, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) insiders disclosed that the tour marked the beginning of a wider political reorganization in Mount Kenya.

Digital strategist and presidential ally Denis Itumbi revealed that the President’s team is set to hold a crucial meeting to chart the way forward in the vote-rich region.
According to Itumbi, the UDA leadership will sit down to review grassroots feedback from Kiambu and other parts of Mount Kenya before rolling out a coordinated political and development strategy.
He stated that the team intends to “hit the ground running,” signalling an aggressive charm offensive that could weaken Gachagua’s influence.
Political analysts say the announcement is a clear indication that Ruto’s camp is determined to consolidate support in Mount Kenya ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The region has recently emerged as a key political battleground following Gachagua’s fallout with the President and his increasing efforts to rally the community behind his own political path.
Many Kenyans are now anticipating a fierce political showdown between the two former allies.
With both camps mobilizing support and positioning themselves as champions of Mount Kenya interests, the coming months are expected to be marked by heightened political activity, strategic meetings, and intense grassroots campaigns as the 2027 race slowly takes shape.
