Gachoka, who has been associated with KANU politics and was identified in the post as the party’s Nairobi gubernatorial candidate, made it clear where he believes the Opposition should place its confidence.
“Edwin Sifuna is the best choice for the Opposition,” Gachoka stated, adding that Sifuna had qualities he considered important for the political contest ahead.
His comments came alongside a separate post by Makau F. Mully, who questioned reports of possible political deals involving Kalonzo. Mully argued that Kenyans were seeking political change rather than another arrangement based on political bargains.
The latest remarks add to the growing debate over who should lead the Opposition into the 2027 presidential contest. Kalonzo has remained a significant figure in Opposition politics, while Sifuna has increasingly attracted attention through his involvement in the Linda Mwananchi movement.
The competing views also expose the difficult coalition negotiations expected to shape the next election. With several established leaders seeking influence within the Opposition camp, questions over leadership, alliances and the presidential ticket are likely to remain central.
For Kalonzo, the public criticism highlights the political pressure surrounding his presidential ambitions as rival voices increasingly put forward Sifuna as an alternative.
