Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential ambitions have been thrust into fresh uncertainty after Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma issued a pointed warning over the former vice president’s association with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

His remarks come as opposition figures continue negotiations over how to unite behind a presidential candidate.
In a strongly worded statement, Kaluma said he had forgiven Kalonzo for what he described as the 2007 betrayal, but drew a line over any continued partnership with Gachagua.
“We forgave Kalonzo for the 2007 betrayal. We’ll never forgive Kalonzo for joining hands with our enemies like Gachagua,” Kaluma said, alleging that the alliance could perpetuate what he described as ethnic exclusion, discrimination and marginalisation.
He went further, issuing a direct political warning to Kalonzo.
According to Kaluma, supporters who share his position would not back Kalonzo if he remains politically aligned with Gachagua.
“He’ll get zero votes from us if he remains with Gachagua,” he declared.
The remarks add another layer of tension to the opposition’s search for a united presidential ticket. Kalonzo remains one of the established figures seeking the presidency, while Gachagua has been building alliances across several regions.
Recent reporting shows that Gachagua has publicly indicated openness to different opposition ticket arrangements involving Kalonzo and other leaders.
